Pune (Poona) is a prime centre for education in India. The
brightest of
software brains study and work in Pune. Pune is located in western
India and is the 7th largest city in India. It is a three hour drive
from Mumbai (formerly Bombay), the commercial capital of India. It is
well connected to all major cities in India. "Pune's success story in information
technology seems to be making great waves as its software exports for
2006-07 are expected to touch Rs 15,150 crore for the year ended March
2007." - The Hindu BusinessLine
Pune is well connected to all major citites in India. However it's
important to book early if you wish to get a good air deal. As for
trains, it's important to book early if you wish to get any reservation
at all. If you are traveling to Pune from out of India, it's best to
take a
flight to Mumbai (Bombay) and then get to Pune by road. Pune has few
international flights, so getting a convenient flight and a good fare
is rather difficult. Mumbai to Pune should take you between 3 to 4
hours by road.
Check the website http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/. You will get a
direct train connection to Pune from most cities in India. The
conference venue is closer to the Khadki
railway station. Many but not all long distance trains halt at Khadki.
We recommend that you ask your hotel to arrange for your railway
station pickup.
Pune
Road Connections
Mumbai to Pune is a 3 to 4 hour drive depending on the traffic
conditions. You will get direct buses to Pune from most cities in
Maharashtra as well as
major cities in Karnataka and Gujrat. Mumbai - Pune buses that use the
expressway can drop you at the Wakad Flyover as shown in the map.
However public transport or rickshaws are not always available at this
place. You could instead get off at Aundh and take a rickshaw to
Hinjewadi IT Park.
The IT Park at Hinjewadi is off the Mumbai Pune Expressway. If you are
traveling from Mumbai, getting to the IT Park by road is a lot easier
than by any other way. You just have to enter the IT Park by turning
right at the Wakad Flyover Square instead of the left which takes you
to Pune city.
If you are traveling by road from any other city or if you have arrived
via air or rail, you can get to the IT Park using either of the
following routes
From Chandani Chowk - Travel towards Mumbai on the Expressway -
turn left into the IT Park at the Wakad Flyover Square.
From Aundh - Travel upto Wakad and use the Wakad flyover to cross
over the highway and get into Hinjewadi.
From Baner - Turn right at the square where Baner Road meets the
Highway. The landmark at this point is Hotel Sadanand. Within a few
minutes you will get to Wakad Flyover Square. Here you turn left for
the IT park.

Local Transport like Rickshaws can be availed to travel. Rickshaw drivers in Pune charge as per the meter reading. Do not be duped by rickshaws charging a flat amount. Fare calculation is done as this: Amount on meter , for eg 15.0.0 will come to = (15 * 6) + 2 = 92/- Rs ; for 08.0.0, the amount would be (8 * 6) + 2 = 50/- Rs. Please note that Pre-Paid Rickshaws manned by Pune Traffic Police are also available at Pune Railway Station.
For the convenience of the delegates, a bus will be arranged to
transport the conference attendees from Aundh to the IT Park and vice -
versa. The bus will run at regular intervals for the two days of the
conference.
Track 1 sessions will be held in the Main Hall (Auditorium) while Track 2 will be held in the Session Hall. The layout of the halls is as shown in the figure below.
The conference venue is located in the Hinjewadi / Hinjawadi IT
Park, which is located just outside the main city. As many delegates to
the conference travel to Pune for the event, we appreciate the need for
a good place to stay at. The most convenient place to stay would be
right within the IT Park.
LemonTree Hotel - Hinjewadi

Pune city has seen a rise in the
number of shopping malls, multiplexes, lounge bars and pubs.
There are E-Square, Inox and Gold Adlabs multiplexes, lounge bars like
Kawa and more. Apart from movies, you can find book stores, restaurants
and other entertainment options at these multiplexes. You can also take
a stroll along the walking plaza at M.G Road on a Sunday which has a long
line of charming boutiques, clothes stores, trinket shops and roadside
cafes. Fergusson Road
and Jungli Maharaj Road are young and happening places with many colleges,
restaurants and shopping
malls. The 'Aundh' area of Pune is closest to the venue. Aundh is the
place where most of the IT folk live. As the conference venue is
located within the IT Park and outside the main city, most of the
leisure places are 5-15 kms away.
Note - Watch out for the traffic in Pune which can
be quite chaotic.
